It was always going to be only a matter of time. Yes, the tuners have already turned their attention to the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class, with Germany’s Prior Design seemingly the first in line.

The company has handed the Navara-based double-cab bakkie a widebody kit (complete with prominent arches) and a few other bits and bobs.

The front bumper of the flagship PD500WB derivative, for instance, adopts lines that echo those of various members of the current Mercedes-AMG line-up, with air vents at the edges and a splitter beneath.

Round back, you’ll find dual exhaust tips (a full replacement exhaust system is available on request), while three-piece forged alloy wheels (available in various sizes from 18 to 23 inches) and a lowered suspension make for an intimidating stance.

There’s also a PD400WB version that retains the standard front and rear bumper design (and suspension set-up) of the X-Class, but adds Prior Design’s widebody kit.

Neither package includes cabin revisions, but the tuner says it will gladly provide custom upholstery (featuring a mix of Alcantara and leather, plus Prior Design badging) at an extra cost.

There’s no mention of an increase in output, so we’ll assume that this kit is purely a styling one … for now, at least.
